Lake Como Wedding, Italy
Villa Regina Teodolinda is absolutely out of this world. Except it’s not; it’s in Northern Italy and stands proudly looking out on to Lake Como.
Samantha and Charles were brought to us through the wonderful planning team at Wedding Box, Lake Como. Our second time working with them, and we can’t recommended them enough!
Normally we meet our couples before the wedding, but with them living in Nashville, Tennessee our best option was keeping in touch on Instagram. We got to know our Bride Samantha really well there, and we learnt they were absolutely crackers, just our kind of people.
Our first meeting was the night before the wedding, a boat ride from Como to Bellagio for a party for the friends and family to get to know each other better ready for the next day.
Destination weddings tend to happen a little later in the day, as Italy is blessed when it comes to the weather. With that in mind, it was a very relaxed morning for the Bride and Groom to get ready. Samantha eased her way into the day, doing her own makeup before being helped into her knockout wedding dress, a gorgeous number from Karen Hendrix Couture! Charles’ morning was also rather chilled – I love the shots looking out of the window at those stunning Italian views, getting himself ready for marrying his fiancée in his sharp tux!
The view from the lawn onto the lake was the perfect backdrop for the nuptials. The ceremony was conducted by Charles’ father, and spared no expense when it came to emotion. It was beautiful! Take a look at their first kiss too, the affectionately named “Prince Charles” really did sweep his new wife off her feet!!
With a violinist playing the wonderful ‘Con Te Partiro’ to close off the ceremony, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house!
I have to say the Americans really had it nailed when it came to the family portraits section of the day. One set of family members in, then the next, and the next. We were done and dusted within 15 minutes and the newlyweds had plenty of time to mingle with their guests too.
The couple had booked a speedboat to take them out onto the lake to have some time away together and reflect on their favourite moments of the day so far. Before this we took them away for a moment to explore the grounds of their picturesque venue. Villa Regina Teodolinda really is a fantastic place to host an Italian wedding!
It was nice to capture them looking back at the land when on the speedboat, taking that time out to ‘step back’ and view your wedding from a distance can really help to take it all in.
The speeches from the couple and their family were touching and funny, with the Groom’s sister and mother sharing anecdotes from Charlie’s youth, and maid of honour Sierra showing some love for team Bride. The Groom’s dad had also written a song the morning of the wedding to play on his guitar for his son and new daughter-in-law – you’ll have to watch the highlight film from Sky Weddings if you want a listen. It’s worth it.
The fun didn’t stop here, and as the sun dropped, the moon came out and brought the party with it. An epic first dance and dancefloor kept the family entertained all evening, as we joined them, snapping some of their crazy dance moves.
Lake Como is an absolute DREAM and we can’t wait to be back there for more destination weddings!
It was a pleasure to work with Svetlana and Wedding Box, thank you for recommending us! Thanks to Darren for second shooting for me, and to Josh and Jake from Sky Weddings for working alongside us so well. Absolute dream team!
The biggest thank you goes to our awesome Bride and Groom – the new Mr & Mrs Christofersen!
You chose an amazing venue, your day was perfect, your family and friends were so welcoming.
See you again next year for the anniversary party – #ComoAwayWithUsPt.2?
