Browsholme Hall Wedding // Lee + Kathryn

Browsholme Hall Wedding

Browsholme Hall and Tithe Barn was a brand new venue for me. Set in historic grounds, the 300-year old barn is such a beautiful place to host a wedding. Best man Tom had recommended us to Kathryn and Lee – we photographed his brother’s wedding in Italy in 2017. It’s always great to get a recommendation from someone who has seen the way you work.

Kathryn got ready with bridesmaids and parents at the cottage on-site, with a nice relaxed morning getting made up. Tom had the job of keeping Lee calm while he rehearsed his speech a few hundred yards away in the Woodland Glade micro-lodges.

The Tithe Barn was the perfect setting for the ceremony, with fairy lights dressing the rustic brickwork, providing a simple and warm backdrop for the nuptials. I loved capturing the couple laughing their way through their vows!

After the ceremony, the newlyweds walked out to a shower of confetti – one of my favourite pictures is the bride getting a face full of confetti!

We had Alex Birtwell serenading the guests over canapes, while we had a few family formal pictures before moving on to capturing more natural moments in the courtyard.

We headed inside for the wedding breakfast and speeches. With the speeches, I love to capture not only the speaker, but the reactions of the guests too! The father of the bride’s speech was very heartfelt, which was balanced perfectly with the hilarious best man speech from Tom – which had the groom cringing!

As we only had time for family pictures before this, the new Mr & Mrs Atherton took the opportunity after the wedding breakfast to sneak off for 15 minutes alone together to get some portraits in the grounds of the Hall – there were some great little spots for relaxed moments. We could let the couple be themselves while we took photographs, giving minimal direction to the bride and groom.

As the night set in, superstar Alex Birtwell sang them through the first dance, with DJ Danny Finn dropping some tunes to keep the dance floor lively.

Check out the last few images to see how things look when you do portraits after the alcohol has set in! Haha!

Lee and Kathryn – thanks so much for having us, it was a pleasure to capture your day for you!

*Since their wedding we’ve had the most amazing review for the venue from the couple – I’ve popped it below after the pictures*

“Thank so much for the perfect photos, we love them! The venue itself is stunning, as they probably already know. The cottage you can stay in before and the night of the wedding is lovely and well worth it. Some of our guests stayed in the pods which they loved and was nice to have them close by. Amanda was amazing in helping us sort out those bookings, was good that people booked them direct too.
The caterers are amazing, twelve, lots of choice with different budgets and they were great at working out meals for people with allergies/dietary requirements. I love how it is a blank canvas and you can do what you want with it, they let you have candles which some venues won’t allow.
Rebecca and josh couldn’t not have done more for us and on the day they made sure everything went smoothly without having to ask us anything which meant we could spend all our time with the guests. They asked us how we wanted things before and did it all perfect. They went over and above too.
The co-ordinators were completely amazing with our circumstances as everything was short notice, really caring and understanding, made you feel like you were the only ones having a wedding there, gave you complete attention and didn’t hassle us for info, which I have heard other venues do. Nothing was any trouble.
As you know the photo opportunities are amazing too.
Literally the only tiny negative was the amount of wasps on the day, which is probably due to the weather in summer and I am sure they will have sorted any nests out by now.
They are also building a place for guests to have breakfast in the morning, but even if that’s not ready we just got the guests staying in the pods to come to the cottage in the morning for bacon butties as there is a kitchen there.
I am so glad that we booked our wedding there, it was perfect, I would recommend it 100%”
