Chester Zoo Wedding
The title gives the secret away- such an awesomely unique wedding venue which was the perfect setting for Kyle and Ashlee’s wedding day! One of the most relaxed weddings I have ever photographed, the day was so perfectly chilled out.
The ceremony took place at Oakfield Manor, nestled in the grounds, with the Lion enclosure as the perfect backdrop. The Grade II listed building has been the headquarters of Chester Zoo since the 1930’s, and was chosen by the couple because of their love of animals, particularly the Black Rhinos. Instead of traditional bridesmaids dresses, the girls wore vintage-inspired skater dresses, and the bride wore flowers in her hair and arrived in style at the venue in a VW Camper.
The 1st of June provided us with beautiful sunshine, which is perfect when part of your wedding itinerary includes a private tour of the zoo for the bride, groom and wedding guests. The ceremony and the wedding breakfast took place indoors, but with the weather being so beautiful they took the speeches outside and continued the celebrations there.
The Zoo tour provided us with lots of opportunities for casual wedding photographs of the couple and their guests enjoying the day. It also allowed us to catch the couple on their own for some lovely portraits of just the two of them. The first dance took place under the tree outside Oakfield as the family and friends looked on while Otis Redding played out the evening- although my secret wish was for “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”
